My delayed voice session at BBC White City

I sit down next to the producer on the AMA sofas. The BBC is a culture like no other. It’s like it’s been possessed by the demon of Marks and Spencer. No matter how hard it tries to be politically correct and employ people from all walks of life, somehow if you were to press a reset button on the organisation, you’d discover that every single person wears White clean underwear. (metaphorically of course)
If you said “bum” in a voice session (which I did once in a moment of feeling controversial) you are sent to coventry instantly. Producers and engineers shift from buttock to buttock in their chair and cough in an embarrassed silence. Lovely people, but the Beeb is the Beeb.
